When
you think of the success behind Genesis, you might also consider the solo careers
of Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel. Unbeknownst to casual fans, however, is that
guitarist Steve Hackett, who played with the group from 1971 to 1977, may be
the most prolific solo artist of all. Since exiting Genesis, Hackett has issued
well over 20 albums, as well as formed different bands with Yes members Steve
Howe and Chris Squire. Out Of The Tunnel's Mouth, the guitarist’s
latest solo effort, comes at a time when speculation of a full-on Genesis reunion
to include Gabriel and Hackett is at an all-time high, epsecially with the group’s
upcoming induction this March into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which is
helping to fan the flames and raise hope among the faithful. In the interview
posted below, the guitarist touches on Genesis and offers up a few insights
into his new album too.
